An opportunity to meet and hear Middle East gay rights activist and novelist Fadi Zaghmout in conversation with Brian Whitaker, former Middle East editor of the Guardian and author of Unspeakable Love - Gay and Lesbian Life in the Middle East. A kind of Middle Eastern Sex in the City, Fadi Zaghmout's The Bride of Amman explores sexuality and gender politics through the intersecting lives of five young people in Jordan's capital city, Amman. Fearless in its exposure of homophobia, domestic abuse and honour crimes, this novel provoked considerable controversy in the original Arabic edition while also becoming something of a cult classic, offering a voice and a source of inspiration to a generation that is ready for change.
