Andrew Lownie, author of the first major biography of Guy Burgess, presents an enthralling portrait of the most important, complex and interesting of the notorious Cambridge spies. Andrew Lownie was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he was President of the Union and Dunster History Prize Man, and Edinburgh University where he gained an MSc in American Espionage. He has been a journalist, bookseller, publisher and has run his own literary agency since 1988. His previous books include a literary guide to Edinburgh and biography of the writer John Buchan. He is President of the Biographers Club and a judge for the Plutarch Biography Award and St Ermins Hotel Intelligence Book Prize. While still in his early twenties, he began to write on a regular basis, leaders, feature articles and book reviews on intelligence and history for The Spectator, Times, Guardian and Daily Telegraph. He was the London representative of the Washington-based National Intelligence Study Centre and was the British representative on the six-man planning committee for the International Spy Museum.
